Mater Dei Prep Announces New Rolling Admissions Model and Individualized Learning Plan

Mater Dei Prep, a Catholic college preparatory high school that empowers students for lifelong success, has announced an exciting Rolling Admissions model for new students, as well as an Individualized Learning Plan for its current and future students.

The new Rolling Admissions model means students will be notified of acceptance, tuition plan participation, financial aid status, deadlines and criteria for scholarships, and dates of placement tests within 2 weeks of receipt of application. In addition, Mater Dei Prep will also offer four Instant Decision dates for 8th graders and two for 7th graders and transfers. “Attending an Instant Decision Day is beneficial for any student who would like to receive an on-the-spot answer about their acceptance to Mater Dei Prep and have their application fee waived”, said Principal, Steven Sciarappa.

Effective 2013, Mater Dei Prep shifted towards using Common Core Standards as the base for building its Mathematics/English curriculum. Mater Dei adopted the comprehensive ACT assessment program as a method of gauging student progress across the curriculum. It will assist in the development of an Individualized Learning Plan for each student and improve his or her college readiness. A student’s Individualized Learning Plan is based upon the following criteria; placement tests, standardized grade school tests, academic transcript/profile and goals upon graduation from Mater Dei Prep.

ACT assessments will be given to students each year, in addition to Terra Nova and PSAT. A full college-accepted ACT will be given to each student during his or her junior year.

Mater Dei Prep will be hosting an Open House on Sunday, October 6 from 1-3pm on the Mater Dei Campus, where parents and prospective students will learn more about the Rolling Admissions model, Instant Decision Dates and the Individualized Learning plan.
