Princess of the Plunge

Mother Teresa Regional School principal Melissa Whelan Wisk is plunging in the Atlantic Ocean Sunday as part of the Ancient Order of Hibernians Polar Plunge.

Mrs. Melissa Whelan Wisk is ready for the Ancient Order of Hiberian’s Polar Plunge this Sunday.  This will be her seventh year participating in the plunge to raise money for Catholic education and Mother Teresa Regional School’s Annual Fund.  One of the students created a tiara for her and she has been wearing it around school to be ready for Sunday.

“Sixty degree weather makes it easy” noted Mrs. Wisk. “The real challenge was two years ago when the snow was on the beach.” The plunge has had its challenges this year despite the warm weather.  The annual plunge takes place in Sea Bright and Hurricane Sandy has made that challenging. The plunge will now take place at the Sea Bright Municipal Beach at the Firehouse.  Plungers will be going in the water at 1:00 pm.

Anyone is welcome to join and can register to plunge by visiting mtregional.com.  There will be a preregistration tonight at the AOH hall in Middletown on Hwy 36.  Registrations will be taken from 11:00 am until 12:30 pm the day of the plunge.
