August 5, 2013 Middletown Township Committee Meeting

An ordinance was introduced to outsource payroll services. A public hearing and final vote will be held at the next meeting on August 19.
There was a discussion regarding a new ordinance involving signs that have changing messages. Committeeman Fiore asked why there are signs around town that do not comply with the existing law on the books. He questioned why the signs were approved and why the current law is not enforced. Administrator Tony Mercantante said that the law was written before LED signs were developed and that the law was vaguely written.
Another topic of discussion was how the township has applied, over the last two years, for grant money to pave Murphy Road that runs In front of Thorne Middle School. DPW Director Ted Maloney said that the funds have been obtained and in the coming years grant applications will be placed to pave Main St., from Murphy Road to Rt. 36.
