May 6, 2013 Middletown Township Committee Meeting

Besides normal township business, the Committee held a public hearing on the 2013 budget. After the hearing, it was decided that a vote to approve the budget would be made at a future date.

A budget hearing was held for the 2013 budget. It was announced that the Committee would vote to adopt the budget at a future date.

The Committee adopted an ordinance to borrow $1.5M to construct an artificial turf field. At the previous meeting Committeeman Settembrino commented that this loan would be paid for at no expense to the taxpayer, making it revenue neutral. When asked at this meeting if a cost analysis was done to justify that statement, Committeeman Scharfenberger said that a cost analysis was done, but there was nothing in writing to show that it was done.

Some of the resolutions approved were to allocate temporary emergency appropriations to fund expenses because there was no budget, settle an Americans with Disability Act lawsuit, apply for a grant to continue with the township recycling program and appoint a member to the Housing Authority.
