Annual Freshwater Fishing Derby June 14-15 in Howell and Freehold

Written by the Monmouth County Park System

There’s nothing quite like the thrill of feeling a tug at the end of your fishing pole.  Discover for yourself when the Monmouth County Park System celebrates the state’s no-license-required-fishing weekend, June 14 & 15, with pole rentals, fishing clinics and its Second Annual Freshwater Fishing Derby.  The fun starts on Saturday, June 14 at the Manasquan Reservoir in Howell.  The Park System will hold a free hands-on fishing clinic from 12:30-1:30 p.m.  The clinic covers how to cast and rig.  Staff will be on hand to answer any questions.  Then the fishing derby will be held from 2-5 p.m. On Sunday, June 15, the action moves to Turkey Swamp Park, Freehold.  Once again a free hands-on fishing clinic will be held from 12:30-1:30 p.m., followed by the fishing derby from 2-5 p.m.
