From our hockey coordinators:
Can you believe we are already halfway through our fall season? It
seems like just yesterday the kids were showing up to the gym for the first
time for our pre-season clinics, and anxiously waiting outside the cafeteria to
hear draft results for their team. The new principal, Mr. Sorci, can be seen at
many of the hockey games, taking in this exciting sport. Being from Alaska, it
is probably not foreign to him as it was to many of our families before the
Street Devils program started up nearly three years ago. During this time, we
have seen the development of many outstanding athletes: some which were already
sports-oriented and just needing to get accustomed to hockey, and others who
had never played a sport ever before finding a home in the competitiveness and
fun that street hockey brings.
Pictured above, along with the principal, are our 5th and 8th grade players, the former being "rookies" to the higher level Senior League, and the latter getting ready for what will be their final season in the spring, before graduation. Just like last year's class, they have been with us for many seasons and will be missed. This coming and going constantly changes the complexion of the league, and contributes to the excitement, because anyone can win on any given night, and sometimes players can burst onto the scene out of nowhere and become a star.
We will now be accepting early registration for our spring league. It may seem far away, but will be here before you know it. Do not miss out on the most popular sports program at Mother Teresa Regional School. For more information, contact us, or come attend one of our game nights, the schedule can be found on the school's website.
