NJ Top 10 Beaches Calendar Project Promotes Shore Tourism & Hurricane Sandy Relief Efforts

2013 NJ Top Ten Beaches Calendar is NOW AVAILABLE. http://www.njtoptenbeaches.org/ Portion of proceeds will go to Hurricane Sandy New Jersey Relief Fund & support NJSGC education programs & projects.

(Sandy Hook, NJ) … New Jersey Sea Grant Consortium (NJSGC) and tourism leaders from around the state teamed up in 2013 and asked people to vote for a favorite photo selected from hundreds of entries and share a favorite shore memory on the New Jersey Top Ten Baaches web site to help create a special limited-edition Making More Shore Memories calendar for 2013-14. The top 12 photographs and memories were chosen in April, and the calendar is now available.

The winning photographers represent an interesting age and geographical cross section of New Jersey beach lovers though most were from the southern part of the state. The winning photographers were: 1st place Rick Oliva of Clinton; 2ndplace Mary McCusker of Vorhees; 3rd place and cover photo (selected by the judges panel) Kelly Hunt  of Hammonton;  4th place Laurie VanSant of Hamilton; 5th place Gerrie Cali of Brigantine Beach; 6th place Rebecca Salerno of Livingston; 7th place Elizabeth DeJesus of Mays Landing; 8thplace Julian Colon of Montclair; 9th place Stephanie Lindley of Ocean City; 10th place Katie Walling of Toms River; 11th place Gregory Hnath of Jackson and 12th Place Peter DeMille of  Egg Harbor Township.

According to Kim Kosko, Director of Communications for NJSGC, “The calendar is fun, functional, a compact 9” x 6” size that perfectly suits small spaces and it celebrates the entire Jersey Shore from Sandy Hook to Cape May. Each page includes a special memory and a contest winning photo and lists special shore-based events and activities between June 2013 and May 2014, so it has a longer shelf life. We’re especially pleased that Governor Christie lent his support to the project and shared his own special memories of the Jersey Shore.”
