Anthony T. Sonatore Sr., 93, of Middletown

A World War II veteran who worked for Westinghouse for most of his career.

Anthony T. Sonatore Sr. 93 of Middletown passed away peacefully on Tuesday October 1, 2013 with his family at his side at Regal Pointe in Middletown. 

Anthony was born on February 5, 1920 in Hoboken, New Jersey. He attended Jefferson High School. As Anthony grew older he met his wife Rose. They got married and moved to Elizabeth. 

Anthony then enlisted in the United States Army where he fought in the “Battle of the Bulge.” When his tour of duty was ended he left the Army Honorably Discharged. He returned and started to raise his family in Elizabeth. He then moved to Rahway and then Holmdel where his family was completed.

While raising his family he earned a Bachelor’s Degree in engineering from Jackson State University. He then went to work for Westinghouse for most of his career. Anthony loved to travel and also enjoyed sailing and playing the guitar. 

He was predeceased by his parents Constantino and Anna, his wife Rose, his sisters Mary and Rose, his brother Louis, and his companion Marie Genovese. Anthony was the beloved husband of the late Rose for 43 wonderful years. He was the devoted father of Anthony Jr. and his wife Gail, John and Michelle, David and his wife Maria and his daughter Rosanne. He was also the loving grandfather of Michael, Michelle, Eric, Jenifer, Luke, and Cali. Anthony was also the great-grandfather of Jordan, Dakota, and Samuel. He was also the cherished brother of Jake and John.

Anthony will be reposing at the Evergreen Memorial Funeral Home and Cremation Service 1735- Rte. 35 Middletown, New Jersey 07748 on Friday October 4, 2013 from 2-4pm and 7-9pm. Mass of Christian Burial will take place Saturday morning October 5, 2013 at 9:15 am at St. Mary’s Chapel 26 Leonardville Rd. Entombment will follow at Mount Olivet in Middletown
