Army Vet, Life Member of World War II Memorial Dies at 76

Richard P. Anzivino Jr, 76, of Belford, NJ, died peacefully surrounded by his family on June 17 at Bayshore Community Hospital in Holmdel, NJ. 

Anzvino was born in Washington, DC and lived in Iselin before moving to the Middletown area 41 years ago. He proudly served in the United States Army in the 82nd Airborne Special Forces. Later, Anzvino was a Teamster in the Local 408 in Newark and then he was a Carpenter and Assistant Business Agent for the Carpenters Local 455 in Somerville. He was a Life Member of the World War II Memorial in Washington, DC and a member of the American Legion Post 338 in Leonardo. Anzvino was also a Preservationist at the Spy House in Port Monmouth. He was an avid train collector and could be spotted driving around town with his beloved wife and dog, Daisy.

Surviving are his wife of 55 years, Shirley Mastrangelo Anzivino, his two sons and daughters-in-law, Richard and Donna Anzivino and Paul and Laurie Anzivino; his two daughters and sons-in-law, Tina and Joe Foster and Theresa and George Robinson; his brother, Tony Anzivino and wife Barbara ; his grandchildren, Heather, Jenifer, Daniel, Bethany, George, Brianna, Alyssa, and AJ; and many nieces, nephews, and close friends and family.

Anzivino was preceded in death by his father, Richard P. Anzivino Sr., and mother, Vincie Savarock.

Visitation will be held on Friday, June 21 from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 7 to 9 p.m. at the John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, 115 Tindall Road, Middletown. Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, June 22 at 9:30 a.m. at the funeral home. A Funeral Liturgy will be offered Saturday, June 22 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Chapel, 26 Leonardville Rd., Middletown. Burial will follow at St. James Catholic Cemetery, Woodbridge.
