Former Belford Resident Pauline Murphy Dies

She was a 60 plus year member of the Eastern Star.

Pauline Watson Clay Murphy passed away at Chapin Hill Rehab and Nursing Facility, Red Bank, NJ on March 11, 2014 of natural causes.  She was born in Richmond, VA, and lived there until marrying and moving to Belford, NJ, in 1946, where she spent the rest of her life.

She was predeceased by her husband, Robert E. Murphy, her parents, Stonewall Jackson and Betty Mae Clay, and her siblings, Betty Hamner,  Eugene Clay,  Florence Scheiding  and Mary Tuck.

Pauline loved learning and although she did not have a formal education, she was constantly reading and studying all subjects and a devout member of the Rosicrucian Order. She was devoted to her family.   Many remember passing her home and seeing her working in her yard with her big straw hat on caring for her flowers, shrubs and garden.  She was a 60 plus year member of the Eastern Star.

Surviving are her son, Robert Murphy, Jr. and daughter-in-law, Eileen, and daughter,  Paulette (Murphy) Raub, Also surviving are her grandchildren Heather (and Kevin) Orabone, Kelly (and Craig) Gorczyca, Scott (and Vicki) Jeffery, and great-grandchildren, Emma, Molly, Cullen, Cole, Tyler and Kate, plus many loving and caring nieces, nephews and friends.

A memorial will be held on March 23 at John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, 115 Tindall Road,  Middletown, NJ, from 11 am to 1 pm to celebrate her " love of life and peace profound."
