Kathleen J. Bechtel, Longtime Middletown Resident, Dies at 71

Services are scheduled for Sunday and Monday

Kathleen J. Bechtel, 71, of Middletown died on Jan. 23, 2014 at Monmouth Medical Center in Long Branch.

She was born and raised in Staten Island and moved to Middletown 31 years ago. Kathleen worked as a bookkeeper for Baker Weeks and Co. Brokerage Firm. After her retirement, she worked as a social director for senior housing.

Kathleen was an artist, she enjoyed oil painting, pastels, and doing portraits. She also enjoyed cooking, baking, and gardening. She was a very kind person and will be dearly missed.

Surviving are her beloved husband, George; loving brother and sister-in-law, Thomas and Carol Shannon; loving sister and brother-in-law, Dorothy and John Williams; and her adoring 3 nieces and 2 nephews.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, Jan. 26 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, 115 Tindall Road, Middletown. Funeral services are scheduled for Monday, Jan. 27 at 9:30 a.m. at the funeral home. A Funeral Liturgy will be offered Monday, Jan. 27 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Chapel, 26 Leonardville Rd., Middletown. Burial will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Middletown.
