Obituary: CBA's Brother Gabriel Healy

Viewing Saturday morning at De La Salle Hall.

Brother Gabriel Healy, F.S.C., 83, of Lincroft, died at De La Salle Hall, Lincroft on Friday, November 30, 2012. 

Brother Gabriel was an assistant principal at CBA in the early 1980s, said CBA President Brother Frank Byrne. Graduates often came back to visit him. "He was one of those guys who had an impact on a lot of the kids' lives." 

According to the obituary published in the Asbury Park Press, Brother Gabriel entered the Barrytown Juniorate on June 30, 1943, and Novitiate on June 29, 1946. He received the Religious Habit and Name, Brother Andrian Gabriel, on September 7, 1946 and pronounced Perpetual Vows in Oakdale, Long Island, NY, in 1954, said the article. 

Brother Gabriel's assignments included Ascension School, and Good Sheppard School both of New York City, St. Joseph of the Palisades High School, Cardinal Spellman High School, Manhattan College where he served in campus ministry, Christian Brothers Academy, Albany, N.Y., Sacred Heart High School, Yonkers, N.Y., Christian Brothers Academy, Lincroft where he served as assistant principal and later community director, Blessed Sacrament, Staten Island, N.Y., La Salle Provinicialate where served as auxiliary visitor and director of formation, and Christian Brothers Center Bronx, N.Y. He had been in resident at De La Salle Hall since 2006.

The viewing will be held at De La Salle Hall on Saturday, December 8 from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. followed by interment at St. Gabriel's Cemetery, Marlboro Township.

Memorial donations to De La Salle Nursing Development, 810 Newman Springs road, Lincroft, NJ 07738 would be appreciated.

Higgins Memorial Home, Freehold is in charge of arrangements.

Oh, I am so glad to see that you are preserving history. My husband & I visited your town aRead More couple of weeks ago. My 9th Great Grandfather Thomas Whitlock is buried in the Old First Baptist Church yard. I was honored to stand on the porch of the home he helped build and lived in at Shoal Harbor. The name has changed to the Wilson-Seabrook House and now the Bayshore Activities Center. Wow! Too bad all the museum pieces were removed. I would love to have seen them.
