Obituary: Former Middletown Resident Dorothy F. Loversidge, 95

Services are scheduled for Monday and Tuesday

The following was provided by the John E. Day Funeral Home: 

Dorothy F. Loversidge, 95, of Red Bank passed away November 1, 2013 at the Riverview Medical Center in Red Bank. 

She was born in Keyport and lived in Middletown before moving to Red Bank in 1936.

Dorothy was a communicant and member of the Catholic Daughters of St. James RC Church, a member of the Red Bank Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary for over 50 years, Red Bank Senior Center, a Girl Scout leader. She was a graduate of Leonardo H.S.  

Dorothy worked in the A&P in Red Bank and Little Silver for over 20 years then retired to care for her six grandchildren . She also served as a Red Bank school crossing guard. She was an accomplished seamstress, an expert painter and wallpaperer and a professional hair stylist .

Dorothy was Mom to her children, Nana to her grandchildren and Dot to her friends. She devoted her life to caring for her family and her community.

Dorothy is predeceased by her parents Frank and Theresa Piney, her husband Jack Loversidge, an infant son, a sister, Evelyn Funderburke and a brother, Frank Piney. She is survived by her four children Barbara Boas and her husband Stephen Hecht of Red Bank, Jack  and his wife Patricia of Donora, PA, Bruce and his wife Marylou of Avalon and Patricia West and her husband Lee of Jackson; six grandchildren, Chuck, Kevin, Lee, Jr., Jaki, Tara and Trenna; three Great grandchildren, Ariel, Aurora and James. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins and many dear friends.

Visitation will be on Monday November 4, 2013 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the John E. Day Funeral Home, 85 Riverside Avenue, Red Bank. 

A Mass of Christian Burial will take place Tuesday November 5, 2013 at 10 a.m. at Saint James RC Church in Red Bank followed the interment at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Middletown
