Obituary: George F. Mucci Jr., 83, of Middletown

Worked as a NJ State Trooper in 1951-1985

George F. Mucci, Jr., 83, of Greenacres, FL, formerly of Middletown and Jersey City, NJ, died Sunday morning, May 19, 2013 at JFK Hospice in Atlantis, FL.

George was born in Jersey City to George F. Mucci Sr. and Louise DiNapoli. He graduated from St. Peter's Prep and attended Seton Hall University. He was a former communicant of St. Mary's RC Church in New Monmouth. He is a current communicant of St. Matthew's RC Church in Boynton Beach, FL.

George became a NJ State Trooper in 1951 and retired as Captain, Troop Commander, Troop D, NJ Turnpike in 1985 after 34 years of honorable service. He was a Fourth Degree Knight of Columbus in the Holy Spirit Knights of Columbus Council, Lantana, FL. 

He was predeceased by his parents and daughter, Mary Louise (Mucci) Bond. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Doris P. (Gray) Mucci; daughter, Patricia Mucci of Greenacres, FL; son, George Mucci of Washington Twp, NJ, and sister, Veronica (Mucci) Pastore of Brick, NJ; grandchildren, Patricia and Jennifer Bond, Steven, Lauren, Allyson and Kristen Mucci and great-granddaughter, Sarah Bond.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 23rd from 2-4 & 7-9pm at the John E. Day Funeral Home, 85 Riverside Avenue, Red Bank. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Friday, May 24th, 10am at St. James RC Church, 94 Broad St., Red Bank. Entombment will follow at Holmdel Cemetery Mausoleum, Holmdel, NJ.
