Obituary: Longshoreman Raymond J. Lenardo Dies at 84

Services are scheduled for Thursday and Friday

The following obituary was submitted by Evergreen Memorial Funeral Home:

Raymond J. Lenardo (Goose-Dominic), 84, of Middletown, passed away on Tuesday Oct. 15 peacefully at his home.

Raymond was born on June 7, 1929 in Jersey City. He also lived in Bayonne and ultimately settled in Middletown. He was a member of the Longshoreman’s Local 1588 for 48 years and served as a Dock Boss in Hoboken for 28 of those years. Afterwards he finished the last 20 years as a longshoreman.

Raymond was predeceased by his parents Eugene and Teresa, his wife Lillian along with seven sisters and a brother.

He is the beloved husband of Mary and was the devoted father of June Flora, Linda Marcowitz, and son John. Raymond was also the cherished grandfather of Bryan, Scott, Tracy, Tiffany, Kristen, and Dana. He was the loving great-grandfather of 6 great-grandchildren. Raymond loved watching Football, going to Atlantic City, and the Yankees. Most of all his family was his life.

Raymond will be reposing at the Evergreen Memorial Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 1735 Route 35, Middletown, from 5 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 17.

A prayer service will be held on Friday morning at 10 a.m. in the funeral home. Afterwards Raymond will be entombed at St. Gertrude Cemetery and Mausoleum in Colonia, New Jersey.
