Obituary: Richard Bennett of Belford, Champion Pigeon Breeder

Bennett was 59. Visitation will be held Wednesday at Pfleger Funeral Home.

Richard Bennett, 59 of Belford, NJ passed away on February 17, 2013 at Riverview Medical Center, surrounded by his family.

The thing that Richie loved most in life was being a father.  He enjoyed coaching his two sons and watching them grow up and becoming the men they are today.  Other than family, his passion in life since the age of 7 was raising pigeons.  He won national recognition for breeding champion pigeons.  

Richard was predeceased by his father, Daniel Bennett and mother, Margaret Creevy-Bennett.  He was the devoted husband to Lucille Bennett; beloved father to his two sons Richard Bennett Jr, and Francis Bennett and daughters-in-law, Allyson and Michelle Bennett. Loving grandfather to Anthony, Nicholas, and Mathew Bennett; cherished brother of  Joanie Davis, Daniel Bennett, Alton Bennett and Barbara Colton; cherished uncle to many nieces, nephews and other relatives.  He leaves behind many life long friends.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, February 20, 2013  from 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 9 pm at John F  Pfleger Funeral Home, 115 Tindall Road, Middletown. A Funeral Service is scheduled for Thursday February 21, at 10 am at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Middletown.
