Obituary: Steven Clarke, 46, of Middletown

Clarke was a husband and father, and passionate about computer gaming.

Steven Clarke, 46, of Middletown, passed away December 22 after a courageous four and a half year battle with cancer. Before he became ill, Steven worked as a Systems Engineer for Teksystems. He loved the Pittsburgh Steelers and going to the movies, but his passion was computer gaming. Steven was a wonderful, compassionate person with an infectious sense of humor and will be deeply missed by all those that love him.

Surviving are his loving wife, whom he has been with nearly 30 years, Nancy Clarke; his son, Etienne Clarke; and his daughter, Jacquelyn Clarke.

Steven is also survived by his father, Raymond Clarke, stepmother Lilian; his brothers, Michael Brock and his wife Malin of London, England; Christopher Brock and his wife Nancy of Washington, D.C.; Jeremiah Clarke and his wife Jennifer of Toms River; Shawn Clarke of Neptune; three sisters, Shelley Rodgers and her husband Keith of Frederick, MD; Lisa Brock of Los Angeles, CA; and Kim Hale of NJ. Steven also leaves to mourn his beloved in-laws - sisters Nilsa Samol of Red Bank and Dely Ferrer and her husband Miguel of Long Branch; and his father-in-law Miguel Samol whom he lovingly called “Papi.”

Also surviving are his Uncle Leon “Chino” Roberts of Asbury Park; Aunt Lillian Roberts of Red Bank, and many adoring nephews, nieces, cousins, and many close friends, especially in the gaming world all over the globe. Steven is also survived by his much-loved pets that brought him great comfort dog, Precious and cat, Angelo whom he had grown very fond of.

Steven was predeceased by his mother Joanne Clarke.

Visitation and a funeral service was held onWednesday, January 2, 2013  at the John F. Pfleger Funeral Home in Middletown.
