Obituary: World War II Veteran Edward H. Kiernan, 87

Service will be held on Tuesday

The following was submitted by the John F. Pfleger Funeral Home: 

Edward H Kiernan, 87, of Middletown died on Nov. 14 at his home in New Monmouth. 

He was born in New York, NY, and was raised in Ireland. Ed joined the U.S. Navy at age 17 and served during World War II.  Edward worked as a Machinist for Lincoln Mold and Die Co of Roselle Park for 15 years retiring in 1993. He was a devote parishioner of St. Catherine's Roman Catholic Church, Middletown, commonly attending the 7 a.m. Mass.

Surviving are his two sons and daughter-in-laws - Henry and Jane Kiernan of Hazel, PA, James and Nancy Kiernan of Little Egg Harbor; one daughter and son-in-law - Joan and Harold Kopp of Leonardo; nine grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

Edward was preceded in death by wife of 58 years Mary T. Kiernan (2008).

A Funeral Liturgy will be offered Tuesday, Nov. 19 at 9:30 a.m. at St. Catherine's Church, 110 Bray Ave., North Middletown. Burial will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Middletown.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in his name to St. Catherine's Roman Catholic Church, 130 Bray Ave. Middletown.
