David E. Resnick, 72, of Middletown, died Oct. 25, 2013 at his home.
David was born in, Brooklyn, New York, on May 11, 1941, to Dora nee Esorkowski and Abraham Resnick.
David attended Yeshiva University High School of Brooklyn, graduated with a BS in mathematics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and continued his education at Columbia and Monmouth Universities.
His work as a systems analyst for Advanced Computer Techniques took him from New York City to Milan, Italy in 1973, and back to New Jersey in 1985, where he subsequently worked for Concurrent Computer Corporation for 19 years. He liked to refer to himself as "The World’s Oldest Programmer."
David was truly devoted to his family, and particularly valued academic excellence and music education. He loved classical music, read voraciously, especially science fiction, of which he had a significant library, and enjoyed intellectual pursuits, notably solving puzzles of all kinds.
David is survived by his wife Clare, former wife Margaret Gelb, daughters Tamar (Craig Grills), Sarah (Moncef Attia), and Catherine Walker, brother Ephraim Resnick (Hisako), and four grandchildren, Madeline and Victoria Grills, and Eskander and Sonia Attia.
At David’s request we shall sit Shiva for him from Monday, Oct., 28 through Saturday, Nov. 2, from 3 to 6 p.m., at 761 Nut Swamp Rd., Red Bank.
A Memorial Gathering will be held Sunday, Nov. 3, 2013 from 2 to 4 p.m. at John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, 115 Tindall Rd., Middletown.
A service will be held during the Memorial Gathering, beginning at 2:30 p.m.
