Retired Principal of Navesink and Fairview Elementary Schools Dies at 77

Very active in the Middletown Alliance, Tony was known to stop by the offices with bagels in the morning with an offer to help wherever he could.

Lifelong Red Bank resident Anthony J. Falvo died, surrounded by family, on Aug. 28 at 77.  

A graduate of the Red Bank High School, Tony served in the U.S. Army for two years, received his bachelor's degree from Monmouth College and his master's from Newark State College. 

He was a dedicated educator in the Middletown school system from 1963 to 2000, serving as principal of the Navesink and Fairview Elementary schools. 

Following his retirement, he began a second career in real estate. Tony was a member of the National Education Association, National Association of Elementary School Principals, New Jersey Education Association, New Jersey Principals and Supervisors Association, Middletown Township Education Association, New Jersey Retirees' Education Association, National Association of Realtors, Middletown Alliance for the Prevention of Alcoholism & Drug Abuse, Red Bank Board of Adjustment, and Giuseppe Garibaldi Society. 

Very active in the Middletown Alliance, Tony was known to stop by the offices with bagels in the morning with an offer to help wherever he could. 

He was a communicant of St. Anthony of Padua RC Church in Red Bank, a church trustee, and served as member of the parish council and hospitality ministry. He was a life member and ex-captain of both the Union Hose Fire Company and Red Bank First Aid.

Anthony was predeceased by: his parents Joseph J. and Vera (Fiore) Falvo, and his brother Joseph J. Falvo Jr. 

He is survived by: his wife of 50 years, Marianne Colosimo Falvo; his daughter Beth Falvo Narvell and her husband Gregg of Hockessin, DE; his son Anthony J. Falvo, Jr. of Red Bank; his brother William B. Falvo and his wife Jean of Lambertville, his brother John A. Falvo and his wife Pam of Shrewsbury; his sister Judith Cleary and her husband Ronald of Hazlet; his sister-in-law Constance Falvo of Middletown; many nieces and nephews; and his adored rescue dog Maggie.

Visitation will be held at Thompson Memorial Home, 310 Broad St., Red Bank on Tuesday, Sept. 3 from 2 to 9 p.m. 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, Sept. 4th at 10:30 a.m. at St. Anthony of Padua RC Church, corner of Bridge Ave. and Chestnut St., Red Bank. Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Middletown.
