John R. Doran, 86, New Monmouth, NJ, died peacefully at his home on August 19, 2013. He was born in Jersey City. Jack was a patriot, he proudly served his country in the United States Navy during WWII. He worked as a salesman for Penn Yan Express Trucking for many years. Recently he was a valued employee of Markel Insurance Company in Middletown, working until February of this year. He worked on the Board of Elections; was a past president of the Jersey Coast Traffic Club. Jack was a devout Catholic, serving as an usher for 55 years at St. Mary’s RC Church in New Monmouth. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, proud American and Irishman. He was the NY Giants #1 fan.
Jack was predeceased by his parents, Laurence and Margaret Doran; brothers, Laurence and Kenneth; sisters, Rita Kelly, and Lila O’Connell.
Surviving are his wife of 59 years, Maryanna; daughters and sons-in-law, Deborah and Kevin McCann, Bow, NH; Donna and Bob Gionfiddo, Los Gatos, CA; Mary and Brett Bochiardy, Clearwater, FL; and Amy Doran Eberhardt, Long Branch; son and daughter-in-law, Jack and Joy Doran, of Middletown. Also surviving are 9 grandchildren, Nick, Josh, Sean, Kerry, Carly, Joe, Becky, Mickey, and Liam.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 22, 2013 from 2-4 pm and from 7-9 pm at the John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, 115 Tindall Rd., Middletown. A Funeral Liturgy will be offered on Friday, August 23, 2013 at 10:30 am at Mary, Mother Of God Church, 19 Cherry Tree Farm Rd., Middletown. Burial will follow at Mount Olivet Cemetery, Middletown.
