Ode to Ocean Avenue School Teachers

Mom pens a letter expressing her gratitude for good teachers and community leaders by example at the school

In honor of National Teacher Appreciation Week, Patch put a call out to people to pour praise on their favorite teachers — those who they feel have guided them or their children.

mom Holly Morgan stepped right up to the plate with the following letter of appreciation:

I am located in the North Middletown section of Middletown. I just want to let you know what a great bunch of teachers we have at the Ocean Avenue School.

My daughter is in Miss Langhans' kindergarten class. Alexis has a long school life ahead of her and Miss Langhans has started that in such a positive and encouraging way.

As a working mother I am so happy it is she with whom my little girl spends her day.

Most recently, the Ideal Beach Community Association (IBCA) partnered up with Ocean Avenue School (OAS) in a joint project called Kindergarten Cares. The Kindergarten classes encouraged and challenged the rest of the school to come out and participate in .

The class with the most volunteers to sign up and attend Beach Sweeps won a pizza party provided by the IBCA. Ideal Beach had the most attendee's ever.

Both kindergarten teachers Miss Langhans and Mrs. Feliciano attended Beach Sweeps. Also in attendance was Principal Wilson, gym teacher Mr Abbott and other OAS teachers.

They encourage the children to take pride in where we live and to help make a difference. In total we had over 208 people attend thru OAS.

This is just one of the ways the teacher and staff of OAS have made a difference in the children who attend there.

I, for one, am very thankful for them.

Holly Morgan
