Accident Closes Wilson Avenue in Port Monmouth Wednesday Morning

A car accident closed Wilson Avenue this morning. Wilson Avenue has since reopened.

Wilson Avenue was closed between Cherry Tree Farm Road and Zerman Drive Wednesday morning after a two-vehicle accident in the New Monmouth section of Middletown.

A call was dispatched to Emergency Medical Services at 7:26 a.m. about the accident involving a minivan which appears to be a dark blue Volvo wagon and a GMC Yukon SUV.

The Middletown Township First Aid & Rescue Squad extricated the driver of the minivan from their vehicle.

Leonardo First Aid & Rescue Squad then transported the driver to Riverview Medical Center in Red Bank.

The driver of the SUV was not transported.

Leonardo First Aid & Rescue Squad, Middletown Township First Aid & Rescue Squad, MONOC paramedics, and the Port Monmouth Fire Company were to the scene. 

Middletown Township Police Department is investigating the accident.

Our best wishes go out to the families of those injured this accident. Clearly our busy roads pose a hazard for residents and drivers alike.

Busy roads? It's called not obeying the stop sign. The only way an accident like this could happen

Maybe if the drivers on these busy roads paid attention to their driving instead of other things and obeyed the traffic laws, these "accidents" wouldn't happen.
