Alleged American Puppy Club Burglar Indicted

A Keansburg man is facing burglary and criminal mischief charges.

A Monmouth County grand jury voted to indict a Keansburg man with the May 12 burglary of American Puppy Club, Inc. on Route 35 in Middletown.

Police say Marc Cavanaugh, 51, smashed the store's glass door and caused about $850 worth of damage.

He was indicted on two charges, including third-degree burglary and fourth-degree criminal mischief.

Cavanaugh was also charged by Holmdel Police for the first of two thefts at Sheepshead Baygel. Police say he broke the bagel store's two front windows and made off with $200 worth of cash in May.

According to Data Universe, Cavanaugh is currently incarcerated at the Monmouth County Correctional Facility in lieu of $25,000 bail.

An indictment does not indicate a conviction, only that a grand jury voted there was enough evidence to proceed with a trial.
