Another Fatal Accident at Middletown Milemarker on Parkway Claims Life

Accident is second in less than two weeks

For the second time in less than two weeks, on the same general stretch of the Garden State Parkway, there has been a fatal accident that claimed the life of a 22-year-old woman.

Sade Street, of Newark, was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident last night at about 11 p.m. She was one of seven victims in the two-car fatality that occurred at about 10 p.m. in Middletown at milepost 111.3 on the Garden State Parkway, said NJ State Police Acting Capt. Trent Davis.

Six others, between the two cars, survived and were transported to Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune.

One of the surviving six was a two-year-old, Jaysiyah Williams, also of Newark, who was flown by Northstar medevac helicopter to Jersey Shore. There is no information available as of yet on the condition of any of the surviving injured.

"An Acura was traveling in the left lane heading south on the outer roadway of the parkway when it entered the center lane," Davis said. "The right front of the Acura then struck the rear left of a silver Durango (traveling in the same direction) and both vehicles left the roadway and struck the left guardrail."

There is no further detail available at this time, Davis said. The report, he added, is still preliminary, so there is no information available as of yet about whether or not speeding or ejections from the vehicles were involved, he added. Police have also not yet determined in which vehicle Street was or if she was a driver or passenger.

"We just know right now that there were seven (victims), but we don't know who was in which vehicle or where they were in the vehicles (passengers or drivers) at the time of the accident," Davis added.

The six injured survivors are: the two-year-old, Serena Lynn, 37, and Azhane Lynn, 14, both also of Newark; Kimela Richardson, 24, of Irvington; Robert Williams, 20, and Christine Sikorah, 56, both of Ship Bottom.

Middletown Township police, Fire Department and First Aid units responded to the scene. NJ State Police, Holmdel Unit, is investigating.
