Arresting Update from Middletown PD

arrested the following people recently on various charges ...

On Sept. 6 at 5:00 p.m., Patrolman Michael Reuter and Patrolman Nicholas Fenezia of the Quality of Life Unit were on patrol in the area of the Spy House Museum in Port Monmouth when they observed a suspicious vehicle parked in the parking lot. The officers approached the vehicle and conducted an investigation which resulted in the discovery of a hypodermic syringe used for injecting narcotics inside the vehicle.

The officers continued their investigation, which resulted in the arrests of: Charles Eastman, 23, of Morningside Avenue, Middletown, and Nicholas Stripto, 21, of Port Monmouth Road, Keansburg, on the charge of possession of a hypodermic syringe.

Stripto was also charged with hindering apprehension for giving the officers a false name during the investigation.

The officers also determined that there were two outstanding contempt of court warrants, issued by the Keansburg and Keyport municipal courts, for his arrest.

Both were transported to police headquarters for processing. Eastman was released pending a court date and Stripto was held on $1,596 bail.

On Sept. 5 at 2:15 p.m., Patrolman Nicholas Fenezia and Patrolman Michael Reuter of the Quality of Life Unit were on patrol in the area of Hosford Avenue when they stopped a vehicle for travelling at a high rate of speed. The officers approached the vehicle at which point they detected a strong odor of burnt marijuana coming from inside the car.

The officers conducted an investigation which resulted in the discovery of a glass pipe used for smoking marijuana, a burnt marijuana cigarette and a baggie containing marijuana being found inside the vehicle and the arrests of: Michael Miller, 22, of 9th Street, Belford; Cal Timmons, 18, of Route 36, Leonardo; and Guy Weiss, 18, of Locust Point Road, Navesink. All were charged with possession of under 50 grams of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia, disorderly persons offenses.

The officers also located an outstanding contempt of court warrant issued by the Middletown Municipal Court for Miller.

All three were transported to police headquarters for processing.

Miller was released after posting $639 bail; and Weiss and Timmons for released pending a court date.

On Sept. 5 at 10:30 p.m., Patrolman Richard Fulham was on patrol in the area of Route 36 when he stopped a vehicle for swerving in and out of its lane of travel.

Officer Fulham stopped the vehicle and approached the driver, identified as Kurt Prigge, 45, of Highland Avenue, in the Leonardo section of Middletown. He then detected a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from his breath.

Officer Fulham conducted an investigation that resulted in Prigge being arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated and reckless driving.

He was transported to police headquarters where he was processed and released pending a court date.

On Sept. 5 at 2:15 a.m., Corporal Daniel Murdoch and Patrolman James Beirne responded to the area of Hialeah Avenue in reference to a report of an assault that had occurred at a party.

Upon arrival, the officers began to conduct an investigation when they observed a subject, identified as Joshua Grossman, 25, of Marina Bay Court, Highlands, asleep in a vehicle.

The officers were attempting to wake him up to check on his well-being when Grossman began to yell and scream and swing his arms at the officers. He then pushed the officers at which point he was placed under arrest for disorderly conduct.

Grossman was transported to police headquarters for processing. Upon arrival at headquarters, police say Grossman refused to be processed and began pushing the officers again. He was then charged with the additional offense of obstructing the administration of law.

He was released pending a court date.
