Arresting Update: Shoplifting, Marijuana

The following information was obtained directly from Middletown Township Police Department records. It does not indicate convictions.

arrested the following people recently on shoplifting and marijuana possession charges:

On Oct. 16 at 6:40 p.m., Patrolman Michael Pintilie responded to the store, Route 35, in reference to a report of a shoplifting.

Upon arrival, the officer was advised by store security that they had observed Hany Salib, 46, of Crest Circle, Matawan, attempt to steal approximately $160 worth of tools.

Officer Pintilie conducted an investigation that resulted in Salib being arrested and charged with shoplifting.

He was transported to police headquarters where he was processed and released pending a court date.

On Oct. 16 at 3:50 a.m., Patrolman John Soltysik was on patrol in the area of Oak Hill Road when he stopped a vehicle for having a rear light out.

The officer approached the driver, identified as Christopher Aiello, 24, of Fox Wood Run, Middletown, when he detected the strong odor of raw marijuana coming from inside the vehicle.

The officer also observed a grinder, which is a device used to prepare marijuana for smoking, in plain view inside the vehicle.

Officer Soltysik conducted an investigation that resulted in Aiello being charged with possession of drug paraphernalia. The officer also determined that there was an outstanding contempt of court warrant issued by the Eatontown Municipal Court for Aiello’s arrest.

He was transported to police headquarters where he was processed and released after posting $89 bail.

On Oct.15, 2011 at 8:10 p.m., Police Officer Janine Kennedy responded to the , Route 35, in reference to a shoplifting.

Upon arrival, she was advised by security that they observed two subjects cut the plastic packaging off of a compact disk in an attempt to steal the item without paying for it.

Officer Kennedy conducted an investigation that resulted in the arrests of Anthony Desiderio Jr, 41, of Cortel You, Staten Island, NY, and Cliff Desiderio, 36, of Clubhouse Drive, Middletown.

Both were charged with shoplifting. According to police, the two are brothers.

Both subjects were transported to police headquarters where they are processed and released pending a court date.
