Fire Destroys Home on Alimar Drive

The fire is under investigation.

UPDATED June 23 at 6:30 p.m. with information released by the Middletown Township Fire Dept.: 

A structure fire called in at 4:17 a.m. Sunday in the New Monmouth section of Middletown drew approximately 60 members to Alimar Drive, off Murphy Road. 
The house was unoccupied and nobody was hurt in the blaze, and the house was destroyed.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Middletown Township Fire Prevention office and the Monmouth County Fire Marshall’s office.

Second Assistant Fire Chief Tony Citarella, first on the scene, reported the fire had already run through 75 percent of the 2 1/2 story house. As crews directed fire to the exterior, firefighters searched for any occupants, but found none and learned the house was unoccupied and had been undergoing renovations. 

Department Deputy Chief Rick Hibell declared the fire under control by 5:45 a.m. and the last units left the scene by 8:30 a.m.

The firefighters represented 5 companies of the Middletown Township Fire Department (Old Village, Port Monmouth, Independent, Belford Engine, and East Keansburg Fire Companies), under the command of , responded to the scene.

Also assisting at the scene were the Middletown Township First Aid Squads and the MTFD Air Unit.

According to property records, the house was sold on May 29 for $380,000.
