Former Mater Dei Dean Charged: Sex Assault of Minor

Student no longer at Mater Dei; charges stem from alleged incidents in 2009

The Middletown Police Department has charged the former Dean of Students at Mater Dei High School, Cherry Tree Farm Road, with sexually assaulting a former student who was 16 years old at the time of the alleged assault.

On Tuesday, April 12, Detective Kelly Godley arrested and charged William Miltner, 28, of Acker Drive, Middletown, with second-degree aggravated sexual assault and fourth-degree aggravated sexual contact.

Miltner had been employed by the high school for four years (starting in 2006) when he was promoted to the dean of students position in 2010. He was also a teacher and a soccer coach at the school, according to police.

Miltner, said police, allegedly had an ongoing sexual relationship with the student; and, the charges stem from incidents that allegedly occurred outside of school in April of 2009.

The victim has since graduated from the school and is currently 18 years old.

Miltner is being held in the Monmouth County Correctional Institution in Freehold on $125,000 bail with no 10 percent option set by Superior Court Judge Thomas Scully.

The information for this story was released directly from the records of the Middletown Township Police Department by Lt. Steve Dollinger.
