Man Charged With Heroin, Crack Cocaine and Pills In Middletown, Holmdel

A Laurence Harbor man is being held at the county jail in lieu of $200,000 bail.

A 29-year old Laurence Harbor man is being held at the county jail on $200,000 bail following his arrest in Holmdel Township on drug charges -- just two weeks after he was arrested on similar charges out of Middletown.

Matthew D. Spyer of Forest Ave. of Laurence Harbor was brought into Bayshore Community Hospital in Holmdel Sunday night after becoming involved in a car accident in Old Bridge Township. Holmdel Police said they found him in possession of 252 decks of suspected heroin, 9 chunks of crack cocaine and ten narcotic pills called Alprazolam. Due to being admitted to the hospital, his arrest was processed in Holmdel.

According to the criminal court documents on the Holmdel arrest, the tannish white powdery substance suspected to be heroin was wrapped inside wax paper folds marked "Just for You" and "Diesel." The small off-white colored chunks, suspected to be cocaine, were individually wrapped in cellophane. The ten white oblong pills alleged to be a narcotic were labeled "G3722."

On June 20, Spyer was arrested by Middletown Police on charges of heroin possession, unlawful possession of Xanax, possession of a device to defraud a drug test and possession of a hypodermic syringe. He was released pending a court date.

The charge of intent to distribute decks of heroin out of Holmdel is a first degree charge, which carries a potential penalty of 10-20 years in prison. The other charges are second and third degree crimes.

Spyer's first appearance in Monmouth County Superior Court will be July 16.

An arrest is not a conviction, and every defendant is presumed innocent until found guilty beyond a reasonable doubt at trial.
