In Red Bank: Suspects Sought in Alleged Armed Home Invasion

The suspected getaway car was stopped by Keansburg Police.

Red Bank police are investigating an apparent armed home invasion committed by as many as five men that took place on Tower Hill Drive in the early morning hours Friday.

According to a release from the department, two victims arrived at police headquarters reporting that five men, at least two of whom were carrying handguns, broke into their home in the first block of Tower Hill Drive at around 2 a.m. 

According to their statement, the 21-year-old male victim was struck in the head with a handgun while the 20-year-old female victim was pepper sprayed and threatened with a handgun.

Following the invasion, the suspects searched the home for valuables, according to police, and left with a small safe, a watch and two cell phones. The safe contained an unknown sum of money and personal documents.

After the suspects fled from the scene in a white Ford Explorer, the two victims followed in their own vehicle and were able to catch a glimpse at the suspect perpetrators. According to police, the suspects have been described as black males apparently all in their 20s.

Eventually, the victims gave up the chase at Branch Avenue, police said, after it was believed that one of the suspects fired a single shot at the victims' car. They immediately went to the police station to file their report of the incident.

According to a release from the Red Bank Police, the suspected vehicle was later stopped by Keansburg police about two hours later. Keansburg officers said they found it driven by a female with no male occupants.
