Arresting Update: DWIs, Officer Assault

The following information was obtained directly from Middletown Township Police Department records. It does not indicate convictions.

There were a few people charged by with driving while intoxicated and related charges within the past few days.

One charge alleged an aggravated assault on the arresting officer as well.

Linda Coffey, 51, of Leonardville Road, in the Leonardo section of Middetown, was arrested on March 24, by Cpl. James Keenan, and charged with aggravated assault on a police officer, driving while intoxicated, resisting arrest and refusal to submit to breath samples following a motor vehicle stop on Route 36 in the Port Monmouth section of Middletown.

Coffey allegedly “punched Cpl. Keenan in the face” after he stopped her for swerving on the highway, Middletown Police Detective Lt. Steve Dollinger said.

She was released after posting $15,000 bail, with no 10 percent option, set by Judge Richard Thompson.

Other recent DWI charges are as follows:

Philip Scoles, 30, of Buckingham Circle, Middletown, was arrested on March 26, by Patrolman Richard Fulham, and charged with driving while intoxicated.

He was released pending a court date.

Darren Mensch, 35, of Schelly Drive, Middletown, was arrested on March 23, by Patrolman Robert Shannon, and charged with driving while intoxicated and on a contempt of court warrant issued by the .

He was held on $500 bail.

Vincent Conzo, 64, of Ashford Court, Middletown, was arrested on March 23, by Cpl. Bernie Chenoweth, and charged with driving while intoxicated following a motor vehicle stop.

He was released pending a court date.
