Middletown Fire Co. Assisted in Parkway Brush Fire Battle

Brush fire rekindled Sunday afternoon

assisted the Tinton Falls Fire Department in battling a a large brush fire on the Garden State Parkway Sunday afternoon.

The fires, reported just after 1:30 p.m., covered a 1.5-mile stretch of the parkway, according to Tinton Falls firefighter Brendan Tobin.

The department had five engines and five brush trucks on the parkway for the first brush fire. The Lincroft company came to assist, as did Keansburg and New Jersey Forest Fire Service (NJFFS) units.

Tobin said the fire rekindled later that afternoon, because of the fact that it was rooted in some "deeply amassed leaves."

Lincroft, Tinton Falls' Northside, and the NJFFS were called back when the brush fire rekindled.
