Middletown Firefighters Battle Early Morning Blaze

Some 45 Middletown Township firefighters responded to a Thompson Avenue blaze at 4 a.m. Saturday.

Heat from the fully engulfed home was so intense that it was starting to melt the siding on adjacent houses, according to a press release issued by the Middletown Fire Township Department.

The fire was brought under control by 4:45 a.m. and units remained on the scene until 5:45 a.m.

The unoccupied home, which was under construction, was completely destroyed. A car parked at the home also caught on fire and was severely damaged. Four neighboring homes also sustained some exterior damage.

No injuries were reported.
