Middletown firefighters respond to a Harmony Road blaze Tuesday evening. Approximately 35 firefighters from East Keansburg, Port Monmouth, and Old Village Fire Companies were dispatched at 10:09 p.m. to a report of a fire in a garage attached to a two-story home.

With multiple units returning from an earlier call in the area, Third Assistant Fire Chief Tony Citarella was the first to arrive on scene, according to a press release issued by the Middletown Township Fire Department (MTFD). Citarella directed one hose team to attack the fire from the home's second floor attic space as additional teams extinguished the blaze from the garage level. Citarella said the fast response and coordinated attack of the fire allowed the department to bring the blaze under control within 15 minutes, containing the damage to the garage.

The occupied home sustained water and fire but no injuries were reported, according to the release. The the MTFD Air Unit and the Middletown First Aid Squad also responded to the scene.
