Middletown Man Indicted on First Degree Attempted Murder Charge

Police say Joseph Dickey repeatedly stabbed his roommate in their Thousand Oaks Drive apartment.

A Middletown man was indicted on a first degree attempted murder charge for allegedly stabbing his roommate last September.

Joseph Dickey, 24, of 83 Thousand Oaks Drive faces that charge and other counts after authorities said he stabbed his roommate multiple times at the Thousand Oaks apartment complex on Sept. 18.

Dickey was also indicted on charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and unlawful possession of a weapon, according to the document signed by Acting Prosecutor Christopher Gramiccioni.

Bail for Dickey was set at $512,500, no ten percent option, by Monmouth County Superior Court Judge Dennis R. O’Brien, J.S.C. He remains in custody at the Monmouth County Correctional Facility, according to inmate records.
