Middletown Resident Indicted on Burglary Charges

Daniel McGowan allegedly broke into four homes in Atlantic Highlands and Middletown.

A Middletown man is accused of burglarizing four homes in Atlantic Highlands and Middletown.

Daniel McGowan, a 32-year-old Park Avenue resident, was indicted by a Monmouth County grand jury on Thursday, Oct. 4 on six counts. According to the indictment, McGowan allegedly broke into the dwellings in February 2012. He faces four third-degree burglary charges stemming from the incidents. McGowan also faces two third-degree theft of movable property charges for allegedly stealing money, jewelry and electronics valued at over $500 from two of the homes.

McGowan was arrested on Feb. 29 by Detective Adam Finck of the Middletown Township Police Department.

In New Jersey, third-degree charges carry a potential three- to five-year prison term and fines of up to $15,000 for each count.

A grand jury's vote is a formal charge, not a conviction. The defendants are innocent until proven guilty.
