More Power Restored in Point Beach, Police Say

But those with defective meter boxes have to get them replaced before power restored

JCP&L reports that there are only a small amount of Point Beach residents who are still awaiting power who can safely receive power, according to the Point Beach police department.

"They are expediting their efforts to complete those areas as soon as possible," says a prepared statement from police.

The Building Department is again notifying owners of properties where meters have been pulled or blocked by JCP&L because of flood water damage that they will have to hire a licensed electrician to repair or replace all flood-damaged equipment, the statement says.

"Permits will be required for certain work and inspections conducted by the Building Department prior to power being restored. Residents with any questions or concerns are requested to personally appear at the Building Department.

"The Building Department advises that all rentals or use of residential properties, whether gratuitous or for compensation, require a Certificate of Occupancy. Please contact the Building Department with any questions or concerns."

"Residents in need of manpower assistance in clearing debris from their residence are encouraged to go to the Durand Masonic Lodge, 911 Richmond Ave. (Route 35 South,next to Jersey Mike's), to make arrangements between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. They are also open for the distribution of clothing, non-perishable foods and household supplies. They are requesting no donations.

"So far over 600 volunteers there have assisted in restoration efforts in over 190 homes in Point Pleasant Beach, Point Pleasant Borough and Bay Head. They are also accepting reservations for the weekend."

The statement adds:

"Hot meals are still available between the hours of 2PM-6PM. They also have clothing, non-perishable foodstuffs and household and cleaning supplies available between 9AM-6PM.

Residents are encouraged to monitor 1630AM for updated information.

Residents who are interested in registering for the Reverse 911 Program are directed to the Point Pleasant Beach municipal website

Did they say anything about gas? I had gas fine until last weekend, then I had power but no gas. If you call NJNG, they don't even put you on hold anymore, they just say call back later...
