MTPD Arrest Area Residents on Alleged Drug Charges

A Matawan woman and Keyport man were arrested and charged after allegedly being in possession of heroin and nucynta.

A Matawan woman and Keyport man both face multiple charges after being arrested last week on alleged drug charges involving heroin and nucynta; a drug used to treat moderate to severe pain.

Melissa D. Hopf, 25, of Matawan was arrested on Thursday, May 31 after allegedly distributing 29 decks of heroin. According to the complaint warrant, Hopf knowingly distributed the drug within 500-feet of a public structure while conspiring with another person. The four charges Hopf face include drug possession, distribution, distributing within 500-feet of a public structure and conspiracy.

Hopf has been remanded to the Monmouth County Correctional Institution on $10,000 bail. Her first court appearance will be on Monday, June 25.

Ryan Kite, 33, of Keyport was also arrested on Thursday May 31. According to the complaint warrant Kite was allegedly in possession of 29 decks of heroin and 75 mg of nucynta. The five charges Kite faces include obtaining and possessing 29 decks of heroin, obtaining and possessing nucynta, possession with intent to distribute the heroin, intent to distribute within 500-feet of a public structure and conspiring with another person.

In addition to the five charges, Kite also faces two disorderly persons offenses. The disorderly persons offenses come from Kite allegedly concealing 29 decks of heroin in a red case labeled breathe mints and one pill of nucynta in a coin purse. He has been remanded to the Monmouth County Correctional Institution on $12,500 bail. Kite’s first court appearance will also be on Monday, June 25.
