No One Injured in Melissa Lane Fire

It took 30 minutes to get the fire under control.

No one was hurt in a house fire yesterday at the corner of Ueland Road and Melissa Lane, Middletown.

Four fire companies and 25 firefighters responded to the kitchen and laundry room blaze at 3:53 p.m., Middletown Township Fire Department Spokesman John Isaksen said. There they "encountered heavy fire conditions" in the two-story structure.

The fire was deemed under control within 30 minutes, with , , and fire companies on the scene and Deputy Chief John D'Atilio commanding and Assistant Chief Pete Laimann coordinating extinguishment.

No one was home at the time, but the home sustained "major smoke and fire damage," Isaksen said. 

The cause is being investigated by the Middletown Township Fire Prevention Bureau, he added.
