Heroin, Xanax Possession Charges For 18-Year Old

A young woman is being held at the county jail for burglary, drug possession, and resisting arrest.

An 18-year old North Middletown resident was arrested on Thursday on six drug-related charges. 

Meghan P. Petitt, 18, of Bray Avenue was arrested for possession of heroin and Xanax.

She was also charged with burglary for entering an unnamed place that she did not have permission to enter, for the purpose of using the drugs. She is accused of stealing $100 from a purse at that location.

According to police, she locked herself in the bathroom after being told she waa under arrest, and struggled against police when they tried to apply handcuffs. Police said she was in possession of a hypodermic needle, which constitutes possession of drug paraphernalia. 

She is being held at the Monmouth County Correctional Facilty in Freehold on $15,000 bail, set by Judge Richard Thompson and is due back before a judge on April 1.
