NWS Earle Holds Security Drill

A security drill is being held today at the base.

Naval Weapons Station Earle is holding a security drill today. 

The drill, which according to a press release will include local law enforcement and emergency management agencies.

The release said it is "designed to enhance the training and readiness of Navy Security Forces to respond to threats to the installation and assigned units."

While the drill is not in response to any threats, the press release said it is a "regularly-scheduled exercise." The impact of the drills should be minimized but drivers near the base may see increased security and police presence during that time. That includes the Mainside on Route 34 in Colts Neck and the Waterfront near Route 36 in Leonardo where traffic could be slowed in the area.

People in the area should also not be surprised to see "security vehicle traffic" near Normandy Rd.
