Obituary: Kevin Kane, 44, East Keansburg Fire Company President

Kane, an employee of the Middletown Township Public Works Dept., died Oct. 8.

Kevin Kane, 44, a lifelong resident of East Keansburg, NJ, died on October 8, 2013 at Riverview Medical Center in Red Bank, after a long courageous battle with Lupus and kidney disease.

Kevin was a loving husband, father, brother, son and uncle. He worked for Middletown Township Public Works for 20 years. Kevin joined the East Keansburg Fire Company in 1987. He moved up through the ranks from Engineer to Captain. He was elected to the Chief rank in 1998 and became Chief 100 in 2002. Most recently, Kevin became active as a driver and current President.

His two sons are in the Fire Explorer Program following in their father's footsteps.

He was an avid bowler, fisherman, and long time Mets fan.

Surviving are his loving wife of 20 years Karen; 2 sons, Kevin Jr. and Kristopher; a daughter, Kimberly; his mother, Genevieve Kane; 5 brothers and sisters-in-law, John and Doris, Joe and Denise, Jimmy and Colleen, Billy and Joyce, and Brian and Lisa; 2 sisters and brothers-in-law, Susan and Jerry Whelan and Veronica and Pat Noon; mother and father in-law, John and Carol Hill, as well as many nieces and nephews. Kevin was preceded in death by his father, John Kane Jr.

Visitation will be held Sunday, October 13, 2013 from 7 to 9 pm and Monday, October 14, 2013 from 4 to 8 pm at John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, 115 Tindall Road, Middletown.

A Funeral Liturgy will be offered Tuesday, October 15, 2013 at 10 am at St Catherine's RC Church, 110 Bray Av, N. Middletown.
Burial will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Middletown.
