Marijuana and paraphernalia possession was the highlighted arrest of the week

A police check on a car this week resulted in a marijuana and paraphernalia possession arrest ...

On March 8 at 8:15 p.m., Patrolman Keith Hirschbein was on patrol in the area of Salisbury Avenue when he observed a suspicious vehicle parked on the side of the road. The vehicle was occupied by three subjects.

Officer Hirschbein approached the vehicle to speak with the driver, identified as Steven Heimbuch,  21, from Ravatt Road in the Port Monmouth section of the township, when he detected the strong odor of burnt marijuana coming from inside the vehicle and on Heimbuch’s clothes.

An investigation by Patrolman Hirschbein revealed that Heimbuch was allegedly in possession of a glass and a wooden pipe he recognized as one used to smoke marijuana and a cigar box which allegedly contained a plastic baggie with a green vegetative type substance which he identified as marijuana.

Heimbuch was arrested and charged with possession of less than 50 grams of marijuana, a disorderly persons offense, and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was released on a summons pending a court appearance.

The other occupants of the vehicle were released at the scene. Patrolman Felipe Benedit assisted with the arrest.
