Pedestrian Accident Update from Police

Middletown Township have reported that they are investigating a serious motor vehicle crash that occurred Saturday evening at 8:41 p.m. on Nut Swamp Road, between Gordon Road and South Lake Drive. Police report a pedestrian was seriously injured in the crash.
Lt. John Maguire said preliminary investigation indicates John T. Taylor, 57, of Neptune, was crossing the roadway when he was struck by a vehicle operated by Wayne Hyatt, of Red Bank.

Taylor was seriously injured in the collision while returning to his parked vehicle after attending a youth football game at Nick Trezza field. He was transported by helicopter to Jersey Shore University Medical Center's Trauma Unit, Neptune, where he remains in serious condition. Hyatt was uninjured in the crash.
Middletown Police were assisted at the scene by township EMS and fire department as well as MONOC paramedics, and medevac and Middletown Fire Police.

The crash is being investigated by Cpls. Cliff O’Hara, Bernard Chenoweth and Lieutenant John Maguire of the Middletown Township Police Traffic Bureau.
