Pedestrian Dies as Result of Accident

have confirmed that a pedestrian died earlier tonight after being struck by a motor vehicle at an intersection in the Leonardo section.

The one-vehicle accident at occurred at about 5:48 p.m., according to Sgt. Paul Bailey of the police department's .

The names of the victim, the operator of the vehicle and any passengers have not been released by police pending notification of the next of kin, Bailey said.

Bailey also declined to say what type of vehicle struck the pedestrian or to provide any other details about the accident and its aftermath until police and other authorities complete their investigation.

The Special Services unit of the township police department, the , and the unit all responded to the accident scene, Bailey said.
