Police Announce Heroin Charges for Middletown Residents

A Middletown man faces drug charges after police said he had heroin, drug paraphernalia and a hypodermic needle in his possession.

Christopher Newrock, 24, from Evergreen Terrace was arrested on the charges in October, according to incident summaries recently made public by Middletown police.

Officers Richard Belmonte and Keith Hirschbein of the department’s Quality of Life Unit made the arrest on Oct. 14, according to police.

Newrock was held on $10,000 bail with a 10 percent option, police said. He was not listed as an inmate in the Monmouth County Jail.

Police also reported that Nicole Barthel, 23, from Hudson Avenue was arrested on Oct. 14, by Patrolman Adam Colfer for heroin possession and being under the influence of drugs.

In addition to the drug charges, police said Barthel tampered with physical evidence and had a contempt of court warrant out of Asbury Park. Her bail was set at $191.

The above charges made by authorities do not indicate guilt.
