Police Catch Cypress Neck Burglar

Police arrested Jose Luciano, 32, of Reidway Place, Freehold, on Dec. 28, following an investigation into a Nov. 8 burglary at a residence.

Luciano was arrested by Detective Adam Finck and charged with burglary, criminal mischief and theft, for the initial breaking and entering at the home in the township's Lincroft section.

Those charges were then elevated to strong-armed robbery and aggravated assault after Luciano briefly struggled with a neighbor who had observed him fleeing the home with stolen property in hand according to police.

The struggle ended when Luciano dropped the stolen property and fled the area in a silver four-door Audi. The unidentified neighbor assisted township police in helping to identify the suspect.

Luciano was taken into custody in Middletown after police in Middlessex County arrested him on other charges. He was held on the Middletown charges at the Middlesex County Jail on $35,000 bail set by Judge Richard Thompson.

The investigation was conducted by Finck and Detectives First Class Bill Strohkirch and Danny Sullivan.
