FBI: Colts Neck Bank Robber Nabbed in Alabama

Four days after allegedly holding up a Colts Neck bank, Waleed A. Saleh, 32 of Staten Island was arrested by the FBI in Alabama.

A man accused of pointing a handgun at a bank teller at the Route 34 Chase Bank in Colts Neck and demanding money was arrested by the FBI and Birmingham Police on Monday and charged with first degree armed robbery.

Waleed A. Saleh, 32 of Staten Island was tracked down at a Sheraton Hotel, according to the Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office.

After allegedly taking the cash from the Chase Bank on Feb. 21, police say Saleh fled in a dark two-door Infiniti with New York license plates. Police said the car headed south on Route 34, then north on Route 18.

In addition to armed robbery, Saleh also faces second degree offenses weapons offenses, according to a news released from the MCPO.

Bail was set by Monmouth County Superior Court Judge Richard W. English at $750,000, with no 10 percent option.

The Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office and Colts Neck Police Department Detective Richard Zarrillo contributed to the investigation.

Good or Bad??? Finding him and bringing him back to NJ is going to cost us far more than he stole from the bank. We paid for police officers to travel to Alabama to pick him up. We paid the airfares. We will pay for his lawyer and the trial costs. We will spend over $35,000 per year keeping him in County and State prison. So did we actually win something or just lose far more by capturing him????

They seem to think that Barney Fife will be investigating their crimes and that they'll get away with it.
