Police Bust at Motel Leads to Arrest of Leonardo Man on Drug Charges

Keith Simmonds, Jr., 25, of Leonardo was arrested by Holmdel Police Tuesday on charges he was in possession of cocaine, crack and marijuana.

Holmdel Police said they were called to the Holmdel Motor Inn on Tuesday morning to investigate suspicious narcotics activity.

A drug-sniffing K-9 dog was used to search the motel rooms. Police said they found Simmonds and Jeron Redway, 25, of Ocean Township in one of the rooms, and in possession of drugs.

Holmdel Police said that while Simmonds was being arrested, an amount of cocaine allegedly packaged for distribution fell out of his pants. Further searching revealed Simmonds also was in possession of crack and marijuana, police said.

Police reported they seized $880 from the room. Simmonds and Redway are being held at the Monmouth County Jail in lieu of bail. Judge Mary Casey set bail at $35,000 for Simmonds and $45,000 for Redway.
